The same, only different
Fifty years running, Woodland Art Fair is one of Central Kentucky’s largest free cultural events — a weekend packed with art, music, food, and drinks. A quick five-minute bike ride from our office, it’s not only close to home, it’s close to our hearts. Every year looks a little different as nearly 200 artists from across the country and over 70,000 attendees converge on the park. We created an identity that’s just as alive as the event itself — the same art fair we know and love, but a new experience every year.
Balancing simplicity and strength
The Woodland Art Fair identity is a flexible system designed to evolve and build equity over time. Drawing inspiration from our own in-person experiences, we built a foundation that captures what it feels like to be at the event: invigorating, alive, and healthy. A fun, functional illustration style keeps each year’s designs recognizable, while fresh storytelling elements emerge each year through an evolving cast of characters. While the system is dynamic, it remains approachable for the event’s volunteer-driven team— empowering them to create their own collateral and maintain the brand without the stress of navigating complexity on their own.
